Chapter 126: Chatting

Lu Jiu and the others added a dish made from flying wild geese to their table.

The restaurant purchased a batch of wild goose meat. The meat also has a nourishing and warming effect. This dish was served on every table.

Lu Jiu and the others were sitting by the window on the second floor of the restaurant. Looking out, they could still see the crown of the giant tree being blown by the cold wind. Two days ago, all the leaves of the giant tree finally withered.

Now, they could see the branches that were curling inward, they looked much uglier than before.

Shen Jufeng noticed that she was looking outside, and mentioned the information he had noticed, “I heard that some city-states did not pick the tempered fruits very much because they were worried about the sudden appearance of flying geese.”

Tempered fruits were a good resource. If they were not collected this year, the development of the city-state may be slower next year.

“Wealth and honor come from danger. Some city-states go deep into the forest to collect food despite being warned, and lose their lives as a result.”

Zhuang Yun also saw similar information and started a discussion in the dialogue channel, “I only noticed that the professional players of Longjiao City were having a very unpleasant quarrel with the city lord…”

The two teammates understood it well. They had been there last time, and the ordinary residents had conflicts with the city lord and professional residents.

It was much worse right now. Even the professional residents have lost their hearts. Many residents there were still hinting in the dialogue channel that they wanted to go to other city-states in the spring.

Lu Jiu said: “But it’s not like in the summer when someone wants to leave the city-state, other city lords warmly extend invitations.”

She thought back to when Phantom City was forced to disband, the city lords of several city-states tried their best to attract residents to settle there.

This time it was very quiet. They could only ask people where they planned to go.

“Resources are scarce in winter, the city-state may not be able to bear the arrival of many more people. The most important thing is that someone finally understands that managing a city-state is not an easy task.”

Lu Jiu understood the hidden meaning of Shen Jufeng’s words, which was the reason she often left serious matters to this big brother and did her things.

She sat up straight, “Ahem…that’s right. When I was in school, I didn’t even want to be a class cadre. Later, when I was in high school, I was elected as a health committee member.”

When talking about the things before the end, everyone became interested.

“Then what?” Zhuang Antong asked curiously.

Lu Jiu slowly swallowed the plump goose meat and continued, “I was appointed as the health committee member in the first year of high school. I couldn’t stand it and resigned in the second year of high school. I even named a classmate in the same dormitory as the new health committee member.”

Zhuang Antong found it strange, “Isn’t it good to be a committee member? I am also planning to run for squad leader in the future.”

Lu Jiu’s whole face was full of resistance, “It’s not easy to be a class committee member. Every time our class meets, I have to name a certain group of students to clean up. If I don’t call them, they will all run away. If there’s no one, I have to clean them myself, but they won’t appreciate it. But rather, run away after class repeatedly. I remember, on the first day I became the health committee member, I cleaned the room by myself.”

Zhuang Antong’s little face also wrinkled up, “No wonder you don’t want to be one, Sister Jiu. If I were you, I wouldn’t be happy either.”

But when Lu Jiu talked about the past, she became more enthusiastic, “Also, the study committee member of our class is also the teacher’s little spy. One committee member often tells the class teacher about things in the class, such as who chats a lot in class, who is in love with whom, etc. Anyway, he said all sorts of nonsense, and then the rest of our class found out and didn’t play with him.”

Zhuang Yun has a deep understanding of students who like to report to the teacher. “When I was in school, we also had such students in our class, but we didn’t find out who made the report.”

Zhuang Antong smiled, “Dad, the classmates in your class are not as smart as Sister Jiu’s classmates.”

Zhuang Yun said helplessly, “Yes, yes, yes.”

Lu Jiu turned to look at Shen Jufeng, “Didn’t you do anything interesting when you were in school?”

The person who was asked calmly drank the soup, lowered his eyes, and thought for a while, “There is one thing.”

Lu Jiu happened to be sitting next to him and poked her elbow on him anxiously: “What? Share it quickly.”

“When I was about to graduate from high school, a female thief was caught in the dormitory of a certain class, and she was the monitor of that class.”

“Wow, the class monitor?!” This was unexpected.

“What was lost was just a piece of clothing. It was still wet when it was found. The monitor had been stolen from the clothes drying area. The person who lost the clothes happened to be there with a friend and found that his clothes were gone. He started to pick them up one by one. Then checked the dormitory and found it later.”

Lu Jiu was curious about the follow-up development, “What happened next?”

“She didn’t admit it at first, but everyone in her dormitory saw her going through her bag, taking a change of clothes, and taking a shower. Everyone was in the dormitory, and no one went to her bed. Then she paid money and wrote an apology letter. It was only later that they found out that there had many lost items in that dormitory for 3 years.”

Zhuang Yun thought of Shen Jufeng’s identity before the end of the world: “But there shouldn’t be a student from a poor family in the school you go to, right?”

Shen Jufeng nodded, “It’s a prestigious school, and the monitor is not short of money. She even performs very well, but she has a habit of stealing. It’s a psychological problem.”

“Not all rich second generations can live an easy life. In some families with good family backgrounds, the family tradition is very strict, and that is the case in the squad leader’s family.”

Lu Jiu suddenly felt that she was quite happy. Her parents were both lenient and strict in her education, especially her mother. She felt that the family was not short of money and there was no need to worry about survival. The children only needed to pursue what they liked.

But it was this philosophy that allowed Lu Jiu to figure it out after she had semi-isolated herself for two years after losing them.

They were chatting happily, while Lin Zuo and others not far from them were also listening to the gossip.

The three of them all knew Shen Jufeng, and they had heard a little bit about this monitor who stole things from Shen Jufeng. She was indeed the daughter of a certain aristocratic family.

But at that time, she didn’t care about what she stole, she just had a mental illness.

Lin You listened to them chatting about interesting things about going to school before the end and also missed the time when he went to school.

“Brother, I miss my mother very much. Are they okay now?”

He was only seventeen or eighteen years old, and he was in his rebellious stage. From the initial excitement when he left the jurisdiction of his parents, to the fact that he missed his parents after experiencing so much.

Lin Zuo didn’t know how to comfort him, so he just tore off a whole piece of chicken leg and put it into his brother’s bowl. “The old man and the old woman are very powerful. You don’t need to worry about them.”

At that time, their brothers were unlucky and only found one career card and two skill cards. Lin You insisted that he start the career first, fearing that the skill cards would be taken away, so he asked him to learn them.

Lin You took a bite of the chicken leg and recalled his mother’s tough appearance in his memory, “Maybe, but if I have the chance to return to Yanjing, I will go back and take a look before coming back.”

Lin Zuo smiled. If they go back, his younger brother would not be able to come out with him. He did not want to stay at home and preferred to wander outside. But it may be good for his younger brother to stay with his parents.

The restaurant receives batches of guests, and the warm interior makes people temporarily forget about the coming winter.

Lu Jiu and others also finished a table of delicious food. They didn’t take up a seat and simply went downstairs to pay and go home.

When she came out, she realized that it was so cold today. Lu Jiu put her face in her hands, hoping to get some warmth from her body.

This was how the autumn season ended.
