Chapter 135: Gaining knowledge

Liu Zhuangtou nodded repeatedly: “I will take good care of the guests.”

Chen Hu gave a few more instructions before saying goodbye to Gu Zhang and the others.

Liu Zhuangtou led everyone in. It was a two-entry courtyard. There was a stable in the front yard and a row of sitting rooms. Some flowers and plants were planted along the courtyard wall.

Entering from the hanging flower gate, there was a second courtyard, a row of main rooms, and side rooms on both sides.

This inner courtyard was more exquisite. There was a piece of Taihu stone in the middle of the courtyard, and flowers and plants were planted around it. The corridor connected the main room and the side rooms.

The doors and windows were all carved and covered with window paper.

Liu Zhuangtou smiled and said: “You can live in these rooms as you like. If you need anything, just come to me. I live in the back room in the front yard.”

Gu Zhang hurriedly bowed and said: “Thank you, Liu Zhuangtou. We are new here. I am afraid that there will be a lot of things to trouble you in the future. Please go and do your work. I will come to you if there is anything.”

Liu Zhuangtou bowed and left.

Everyone had never seen such an exquisite courtyard. They looked around and felt very fresh.

Mrs. Qian’s eyes lit up, and she walked into the main hall. There was only a piece of wingwood furniture, a few armchairs, a long table, and two flower tables in the corner. Perhaps because no one lived there, there was no decoration.

There were two doors next to the main hall, which were the two main rooms.

Mrs. Qian walked into one of the rooms and couldn’t help but exclaim, “Oh my God——”

There was a large bed with gold-painted carvings inside. The bed looked like a small room, with a pedal of more than one person wide in front and small tables at both ends. The whole bed was carved with flowers of the four seasons, painted with gold and lacquer, and looked exquisite and luxurious.

Everyone came over to take a look when they heard Mrs. Qian’s exclamation.

Aunt Liu exclaimed: “Is this a bed? How can a bed be made like this? This is simply a small room!”

Mrs. Qian was delighted: “I have lived for decades and have never seen such an exquisite bed. This is good. I will sleep here tonight!”

After she finished speaking, Aunt Liu snorted: “This is the main room. What qualifications do you have to sleep here?”

“We all have this free room to live in thanks to Second Brother Gu. This main room should naturally belong to their family.”

Mrs. Qian’s eyebrows were raised. Just as she was about to refute, she suddenly squinted and said: “I am not qualified to live here, but such a good room must be given to my mother.”

She looked back at Xing’er and said loudly: “Xing’er, you stay here with your grandma at night. It’s just right to serve tea and water to grandma.”

Gu Fei pouted and walked away.

No matter how good the room was, it belonged to someone else.

What’s the point of arguing about these things?

Everyone looked around and found a room to settle down.

Perhaps it was because of what Aunt Liu said that no one lived in the main house.

There were five main houses, except for the central hall, and the remaining four were two bedrooms and two side rooms.

Mrs. Chen quickly assigned them.

Gu Fei and Lanzi lived in one side room, Gu Qing and his wife lived in another side room with Xiao Cao, Gu Zhang, and Mrs. Chen lived in another bedroom, while Gu Erlang and Gu Sanlang could only sleep on the floor in the main house.

After the assignment, Mrs. Chen started to cook.

There was a kitchen in the front yard. Mrs. Chen and Li Chunhua took Lian’er to the front yard and saw that there were already many people in the kitchen.

There were three big stoves in the kitchen.

Aunt Liu occupied one, the eldest aunt occupied one, Mrs. Qian occupied one, and Mrs. Yu and Shanzi’s mother were waiting next to it.

This yard was exquisite, and the walls were all snow-white. No one dared to build a stove in the yard casually, for fear of blackening the walls.

Mrs. Chen smiled: “Everyone is busy, I’ll come over later.”

The eldest aunt hurriedly said, “Wait a minute, my steamed bread will be ready soon, I’ll give it to you when it’s ready.”

Mrs. Chen nodded: “Don’t worry, you can do your things first, it’s still early, and I’m not hungry.”

Then she went back to the backyard.
