Chapter 201: Conscience Price

Gu Fei followed Old Man Huang through the back door. In front of them was a huge yard with dead leaves all over the ground. Opposite was a two-story building.

After crossing the yard and entering the small building opposite, the house was quite clean, unlike the thick layer of dust outside.

Gu Fei found a clean chair and sat down. Old Man Huang rubbed his hands: “Miss, there is no tea in this house, and there is nothing to treat you.”

Gu Fei waved her hand: “Uncle Huang, you are welcome. Let’s talk about how to rent this house.”

Old Man Huang sat down: “Miss, what business do you want to do by renting this store?”

Gu Fei said openly, “I want to open an inn.”

Once, when she was still a female intellectual, she had a dream to work hard to make money, and then open an inn or a bar, drink a little wine every day, watch the world, and listen to other people’s stories. How comfortable it is.

Old Man Huang touched his chin: “Opening an inn is a good business, it’s stable, and you don’t have to travel.”

“Does the girl want to rent the backyard as well?”

Gu Fei nodded: “How many rooms do you have in these buildings?”

Old Man Huang held up three fingers: “30.”

Gu Fei didn’t say anything, thirty rooms were not too many or too few.

“How much rent do you want per year?”

Old Man Huang pondered for a moment: “Little girl, I have a request. As long as you agree, I will rent this house to you at a low price.”

Gu Fei leaned forward: “Uncle Huang, then tell me, what is your request?”

Old Man Huang sighed: “I prefer a lively life. Now I am alone and lonely. If the girl is willing to leave a room for me to live in and provide me with three meals a day, why not rent this house to you at a low price? Anyway, it’s empty anyway.”

This request was too simple.

Gu Fei was a little confused, and then she heard Old Man Huang sigh: “I’m old, and I don’t lack money to spend. I just want someone to talk to me every day. Otherwise, I’m afraid that I will die alone in the house one day and no one will know.”

Gu Fei’s doubts were dispelled. Alas, perhaps when people get old, the most feared thing is loneliness.

She nodded: “Uncle Huang, these are not problems. How much do you think is appropriate for the rent?”

Old Man Huang thought for a while: “The little girl is kind-hearted, so I won’t charge you much. You can give me ten taels of silver a month, which is one hundred and twenty taels a year.”

“Besides, there is my bastard brother here. No matter how much I charge you, I may have to return it to you later.”

Gu Fei’s eyes lit up. This was a conscience price!

Old Man Huang added: “I’ll say it in advance, I won’t give you money for meals!”

“I’m a very picky eater. I don’t want meat every meal, but I want to see meat every day.”

Gu Fei smiled and said: “Don’t worry, Uncle Huang, I will never treat you badly in terms of food.”

She said carefully: “Uncle Huang, I’m a little tight on money, can you pay me the rent once a month?”

Old Man Huang smiled: “Of course, I can. The girl and I get along well, so this is nothing. Normally, I should collect a deposit of 100 taels, but since the girl is tight on money, I won’t collect the deposit.”

“I just want to remind you to be careful of my bastard brother.”

Gu Fei stood up and bowed to Old Man Huang: “Thank you, Uncle Huang.”

As for that idiot, let’s talk about it when he comes to the door.

She doesn’t have a good plan at the moment.

“Then, Uncle Huang, I’ll take my leave first. I’ll go back and discuss with my parents, and come back to sign the contract with you in a day or 2.”

Old man Huang sent Gu Fei out the door, watched Gu Fei get on the mule carriage, turned around, closed the door, and sat down at the door again, but with a faint smile on his lips.
