Chapter 212: Don’t be like me

Gu Fei was silent. She also knew that what Xing’er said was true. This era was so harsh on women.

She stood up: “I’m leaving. You should eat something, otherwise you will have nothing to vomit.”

Xing’er smiled and said: “You are kind.”

“I didn’t treat you very well in the past, but you still came to see me.”

She said with tears in her voice, “Xiao Fei, I just want to remind you that in the future, don’t be like me.”

“If a girl doesn’t love herself, others can abuse you at will.”

“Men are no good. They just want your body——” Xing’er’s voice became smaller and smaller.

Gu Fei sighed and walked out.

Aunt Huang stood outside the door and gave Gu Fei a flattering smile: “Xiao Fei, Auntie asks you a favor, please come and persuade her more often when you are free. She is like this now, she has to get married, and you tell her not to worry. It’s my Shanzi who has let her down, I will treat her well in the future.”

Gu Fei said “hmm” lightly and walked away quickly.

That damn Shanzi, what a piece of shit!

Gu Qing waited outside the manor, and after Gu Fei got in the car, he drove the mule cart to the city.

When they arrived at Furong Street, Old Man Huang was still sitting at the door in the same manner. When he saw Gu Fei get out of the car, he got up from the ground: “Young lady, you came really early, have you thought about it, do you really want to rent my shop?”

Gu Fei nodded: “I’ll rent it, I came here today to sign the deed.”

Old Man Huang quickly found a broker, and the two signed the contract, and the broker took it to the government office to stamp it.

Gu Fei asked the agent to find a bricklayer, painter, and carpenter to repair the house for her and agreed that the agent would bring people over the next morning. Old Man Huang handed Gu Fei two keys, kept one for himself, and said with a smile: “When your house is finished, you can change the lock. For now, just use this one.”

Gu Fei thanked Old Man Huang, found an empty room, closed the door, took out a pen and paper from the space, and began to write down some things to buy, such as tables and chairs, bowls and chopsticks, quilts, sheets, quilt covers, and beds.

As she wrote, Gu Fei felt overwhelmed. She had to buy so many things and renovate them. She only had 140 taels of silver left, which was not enough.

Whenever she was short of money, Gu Fei would think of her little treasure in the space and look around at it, maybe she could find something valuable.

Gu Fei sank her consciousness into the space and found a jewelry box. Inside were some small jewelry she bought in college, such as earrings that cost dozens of yuan a pair, necklaces that cost more than a hundred yuan a piece, two pink crystal bracelets that cost dozens of yuan each, and a green crystal bracelet that cost hundreds of yuan bought from Taobao.

When they were bought, they were said to be natural crystals, and it was unknown whether they were real or not.

Crystals had been mined and used a thousand years before this era. Lanzhi once had a crystal hairpin, so crystal bracelets could be taken out and exchanged for silver openly.

She took out the crystal bracelet, cut off the elastic cord, and wrapped it in a purse. Gu Fei came out of the room with the purse.

When she went downstairs, she saw that her elder brother was sweeping the yard. He had already swept half of the yard. Gu Fei was stunned for a moment, her eyes were a little wet. She stood there for a while before she said: “Brother, I’ll go to the pawnshop and come back.”

Gu Qing put down the broom: “I’ll go with you.”

Gu Fei didn’t refuse. Lian’er didn’t come today, and her brother would never let her go alone.

There was an alley on the left side of the door, and there was a pawn shop in the back of the alley.

As soon as Gu Fei entered the door, she met a pale and thin young man who came out.

The young man looked at her and said: “Hey, isn’t this Miss Gu? What’s the matter with you here?”
