Chapter 29: Assigning tasks

Egg white pancakes, pickle dumplings, and a bowl of rice porridge.

Gu Sanlang was shocked when he saw the dishes on the dining table: “Mother, has our family become rich?”

Mrs. Chen said angrily: “Why do you ask so much? Look at your two brothers, they don’t ask. Just eat what is given to you.”

Gu Sanlang chuckled: “I haven’t eaten white pancakes in half a year.”

“If our family lives like this every day, I won’t bat an eye even if the Emperor asks me.”

Gu Fei chuckled: “Third brother, as long as we all work together, this kind of life won’t be too far away.”

After breakfast, Gu Fei said seriously: “Father, I thought about it. I’m afraid that the second brother and the third brother will have to go with us in the city together.”

Gu Zhang nodded and didn’t ask anything.

Yesterday, he discovered that his daughter had a plan in her mind. Also, in a place like the Marquis Mansion, she might not be able to survive without a plan.

Gu Sanlang was very happy. He liked going to the city. He patted his chest and loudly said: “Sister, if you have something to do, just tell your third brother.”

Gu Fei smiled and said: “Yes, there are many things that need to be done by several brothers.”

Gu Sanlang geared up: “Then let’s go quickly.”

Gu Qing stood up and said: “I’m going to see if the carriage has arrived. I agreed with Boss Zhang yesterday.”

Li Chunhua said quickly: “Sister, let me comb your hair. It’s not good to go into the city with such disheveled hair.”

Li Chunhua’s skillful hands allowed her to comb Gu Fei’s hair into a bun like that of an unmarried girl in a short time. Xiao Cao clapped her hands and laughed: “My Aunt is so beautiful. She is like a little fairy.”

Gu Fei took out a lollipop from the space with a smile and stuffed it into Xiao Cao’s hand, “Eat it quietly at home, don’t let anyone see it.”

Xiao Cao nodded obediently: “I won’t go out, XI will stay at home with mother.”

When the carriage arrived, all the men in the family and Gu Fei got on the carriage.

There were so many people and the space was so small that Gu Fei couldn’t lie down, so she could only kneel on the mat with her butt sticking out.

The carriage quickly left the village entrance. Gu Fei began to assign tasks.

She took out the second young lady’s bag of gold hairpins and pearls and handed them to Gu Sanlang. She lowered her voice and said: “Third Brother, you pawn these things in a pawn shop. It’s best to go to different pawn shops.”

She handed Gu Qing another two hundred taels of silver notes and whispered: “Eldest Brother, go to Nanshi and buy 3 horses. They need to be good horses. If you don’t know how to identify horses, find someone who can go with you. It doesn’t matter to spend some money to pay someone.”

“Aside from the 3 horses, you also buy 3 carriages.”

Gu Fei turned to look at Gu Zhang: “Father, are three carriages enough?”

Gu Zhang was marveling at his daughter’s generosity. When he heard his daughter ask him, he thought for a long time, “Xiao Fei, it’s better to buy a mule than a horse. A mule has better endurance and strength than a horse. A good mule can carry hundreds of kilograms, and they are easier to take care of than horses.”

Gu Fei said in surprise: “Really? I don’t know. Then just buy a mule.”

“For the rest, I think buying some leather and sheepskin would be good.”

“We’ll talk about the rest later.” Gu Fei was afraid that she didn’t have enough money to redeem someone when they went to the Jiaofang House.

Gu Qing was stunned: “Sister, why do you want to buy so many mules and carriage?”

Gu Zhang coughed lightly and said: “If your sister asks you to buy it, just buy it.”
