Chapter 95: Concentrated Sulfuric Acid I (Part 2)

Qin Leiting felt that perhaps this was the wonder of DNA. The heir he desired was vigorous and resolute. When he first met Qin Mengke, he was disappointed—this was a completely opposite kind of girl, possessing a gentleness most women nowadays lacked.

After spending time together, however, he came to appreciate Qin Mengke. Such a girl deserved to be cherished.

Qin Leiting wanted to demonstrate his paternal authority in front of her, but then someone told her he’d been deported? His eyes flashed with displeasure as he demanded, “Who said that?”

Qin Mengke was clever. After seeing Lu Yunyao’s livestream, she realized Lu was referring to her. Her father must have gone searching for the jade pendant, failed, and been reported to the authorities, resulting in his deportation.

“Didn’t I tell you Lu Yunyao is a fortune-teller? She mentioned it in her livestream.”

Meanwhile, Lu Yunyao had already announced: “You can check Capital University’s official website. The news of Qin Mengke’s transfer should be posted today.”

Qin Leiting scoffed. “Does the Academic Affairs Office work on weekends? Ignore her. As for the jade pendant—”

Before he could finish, Qin Mengke took a deep breath. “Dad, it’s alright. I know you tried your best. She’s a Chinese citizen, and her current status is… special. She collaborates with officials as a fortune-teller. Though she humbly calls herself an ordinary citizen, she isn’t. China will protect her, so there’s no need to push further.”

Qin Leiting felt both touched and ashamed. “I just wish I could’ve fulfilled your wish.”

Qin Mengke was disappointed, but since her father had already been expelled from China and couldn’t return, it was better to be gracious. “You did your best, Dad. That’s enough.”

Qin Leiting longed to express his affection with a hug, but he’d just finished working out and was drenched in sweat. Restraining himself, he settled for patting her head.

“If she ever leaves China—no, even if she just steps outside the mainland—I’ll find a way.”

But Qin Leiting didn’t anticipate that even then, he’d be powerless against Lu Yunyao.

Between ordinary people and immortal cultivators, there would always stand an insurmountable wall.

Just then, Qin Mengke’s phone chimed. It was a message from An Sha, asking about her study abroad plans.

Previously, Qin Mengke had claimed illness to avoid explaining. Now, realizing An Sha must have seen the livestream, she confessed in their four-person dorm group chat:

[Yes, due to family reasons, I’ll soon be studying at Harvard University.]

An Sha, her closest friend, felt hurt by the belated admission. Song Linglong and Xiao Xiao exchanged glances. Qin Mengke seemed amiable, but her occasional lack of transparency—like now—made friendships feel secondary.

In truth, they suspected Qin Mengke viewed female friendships as mere social tools. Before marriage, the paramount woman was one’s mother; after, it was the mother-in-law.

Noticing An Sha’s dismay, Song Linglong cleared her throat. “Let’s watch the livestream together. The special on Fairy Yaoguang’s trafficking case is heavy, but the regular broadcasts are fun.”

Netizens were intrigued that the Lu family’s “fake daughter” was actually from a wealthier household. Lu Yunyao kept discussing Qin Mengke until the lucky draw began.

As time expired, Lu Yunyao wrapped up: “Congratulations to @Nuannuan for winning the draw. Please request a connection.”

In a café, the Doudou user “Nuannuan” (Liao Nuan) had been waiting for someone. Delighted, she followed instructions to connect.

Petite and sweet-smiling, Liao Nuan greeted, “Hello, host! I’m so happy. Could you foresee any future misfortunes for my parents?”

Lu Yunyao replied urgently, “Since you’ve connected, your need is greater. Are there any strong men in the café who can assist right now?”

Liao Nuan blinked, confused.

[What’s happening? Does she need help? A robbery? Another wanted criminal?]

[Why does this winner seem slow? The host isn’t saying to call police—it must be urgent!]

[Where is this? I’m an athlete; if nearby, I can help!]

“Quick,” Lu Yunyao pressed. “Unless you want to be disfigured, repeat after me: ‘I need strong help to subdue an unstable woman carrying concentrated sulfuric acid!’”

Liao Nuan, initially shy, panicked at the threat of disfigurement. She shouted with all her might:

“I need strong help! There’s a woman here with concentrated sulfuric acid!”

Her heart sank—the café was nearly empty. This aesthetic, photo-focused spot had only a few slender young women present.
