Chapter 59: Perfect personality (Part 1)

When the filming of the third group of seekers started, there was a bit mix-up.

The live program was scheduled to start at 6:50 p.m. on time, but the caller came on the stage.

The number of viewers who entered the live broadcast room from livestream and various video platforms was still increasing. As soon as they clicked on the live broadcast link, the picture that popped up was a mother and son who were suspected of asking for help, arguing in front of the camera.

[What’s going on? Why haven’t you started yet?]

[Oh haha, is the third group of people asking for help a mother and son? The mother is so temperamental, and this younger brother is so handsome and looks decadent.]

[Why do I feel that this son is so impatient and has such a bad attitude towards his elders…]

[Come here because of the big eyes, this is my first time watching a metaphysics live broadcast. Friends, are you scared, will ghosts be popping out?]

The mother looks to be in her forties, wearing a beige sweater and long skirt. She was pleading and looking embarrassed to say something to the teenager next to her.

The young man’s hair was slightly longer, he was tall, thin, and slightly hunchbacked.

From the high-definition live broadcast lens, people can see that his facial features are quite delicate. His skin was a pale color that had not been exposed to light all year round, and there was a faint ring of pigmentation around his eyes.

At this time, he didn’t care at all that he was in front of the camera, and said in a sharp tone: “Aren’t you annoying?”

The mother whispered: “I know my mother did this carelessly, but, but it was all in front of the camera…”

“I don’t care if they have a camera or not, don’t take pictures of me!”

Host Liu held the microphone and stood aside with an embarrassed look on his face, saying: “There is a small problem. Please wait patiently.”

After about ten minutes, the deadlocked mother and son finally reached a consensus.

The staff of the program team came up and took the gloomy-looking young man away from the camera, while the mother forced a smile and shook hands with Host Liu: “I’m sorry for wasting everyone’s time.”

“It’s okay, Mrs. Hao, let’s start now.”

Host Liu faced the live broadcast camera and read the script: “Dear viewers, the third group of people asking for help is a mother and son who specially came to x city to participate in our program and want to find help. The name of the son of Mrs. Hao next to me is Xiao Heng. His situation is a bit special, and he also encountered a series of strange things in his life.”

“The program team has prepared a pilot video for everyone in advance. Let’s first understand some of their situation.”

Mrs. Hao appears at the beginning of the video.

She should be sitting in her home, holding a period photo in her hand, looking sad;

The photo shows a round-headed little boy who looks to be five or six years old.

The background voice said: “The lady in the video is surnamed Hao, and the photo she is holding is of her son Xiao Heng taken fifteen years ago. At that time, Xiao Heng was smart and active, no different from ordinary children. However, because of something that happened, this completely changed Xiao Heng’s character and life.”

“It turned out that when she was young, Mrs. Hao didn’t meet the right partner. Her ex-husband liked to drink. After he got drunk, he seemed to be a different person. He often beat and scolded her and Xiao Heng. This situation lasted until Xiao Heng was six years old. Mrs. Hao, who couldn’t bear it anymore, finally divorced her ex-husband, but it was already too late.”

“She found that Xiao Heng, who was originally cheerful and lively, became silent and autistic, began to avoid contact with the outside world and even refused to go to kindergarten, but sometimes his temperament changed drastically and he became very well-behaved, almost like two different people. The next day, he forgot about the incident and said that he had never done it before… Symptoms like this became more frequent. Mrs. Hao took Xiao Heng to the hospital for observation and diagnosis. Only then did she realize that the father’s violent behavior still affected the child’s young mind.”

“He was diagnosed with mild autism and childhood depression. In addition, he also developed a very serious mental illness – schizotypal personality disorder. It is also the so-called ‘split personality’.”

“Xiao Heng has a dual personality.”

The video screen changed and it was Mrs. Hao dictating her son’s condition.

She said in the pilot film: “Since those events, Xiao Heng has become introverted, and he especially doesn’t like contact with adult men. His class teacher in middle school was a man with the same build and appearance as his biological father so at that stage… The period when he was most tired of studying.’

‘But the other child – his split-second personality, is a particularly gentle and polite girl, the image of an adult big sister, who is very protective of Xiao Heng. When Xiao Heng is particularly emotional outside, such as when she is wronged, bullied, etc., she will come out and resolve those matters in a very orderly manner.’

‘This information was obtained by the psychiatrist after hypnotizing Xiao Heng because the child was unwilling to communicate these things with us. The doctor told me that Xiao Heng suffered severe psychological trauma after being subjected to violence. He longed for a mature and gentle adult to protect him and resist the violence of his biological father on his behalf when he was young and powerless. Because this emotion and desire are too strong, he will spontaneously split into such a sister who can protect him…’

At this point, Mrs. Hao’s voice was already choked with sobs:

‘It’s because I am too cowardly and an incompetent mother. If I had firmly protected my child from the beginning and divorced his biological father early, Xiao Heng would not have been so painful that he had to split off a second personality to protect himself… …I feel sorry for him.’

In the background, the interviewer was trying to calm her down: ‘Mrs. Hao, don’t blame yourself too much, you are also a victim.’

‘From your description, it seems that you don’t think the emergence of this second personality is a danger. So what is your request for coming to our “Spiritual Affairs” program this time? You also know that we are a metaphysical variety show that mainly deals with supernatural and strange events.’

Mrs. Hao said: ‘That’s right. When I first found out that he had this disease, I was still very worried, but at that time Xiao Heng’s autism and depression tendencies were relatively serious, and the doctor did not recommend using too drastic medical intervention, and the second personality also showed a relatively mild personality, so I chose conservative treatment.’

‘, in the first few years – especially before Xiao Heng went to college, his depressive tendencies were even alleviated a lot with the help of his second personality, and he had some friends around him. Except for the occasional change in personality and becoming unlike him, everything else is developing in a good direction. Sometimes I am even a little grateful to that child…’

‘But since he left home to go to university, things have become strange and it scares me more and more.’

The staff asked: ‘Why do you say that?’

Mrs. Hao clenched her hands uneasily and said: ‘I think that girl wants to become a human, not to replace Xiao Heng’s body. She wants to come out of Xiao Heng’s body and become a brand new person!’

The pilot film ends abruptly here.

[??? I did not expect this development.]

[Generally speaking, the multiple personalities that are split are essentially another side of the person, but they are a little extreme. This boy had an unfortunate childhood and hated adult men like his father. Understandably, he split into a big sister to protect him, but I’ve never heard that different personalities can hurt the main personality, fight for control of the body, and become a completely new person.]

[Haha, this program is a bit interesting. The previous help seekers all looked like they were sick, but they were all supernatural incidents. I would boldly guess whether this Xiao Heng does not have a split personality at all, and is the same person from beginning to end. And a ghost is simply protecting him, right?]

[Is it a fight between personalities for the body? Why don’t you go to the doctor?]

[Upstairs, did you watch the show with your eyes and ears? They said it’s taking away the body (wiping sweat). What I’m curious about is, is a split personality, is not a mental illness. Why go to a psychiatrist?]

[Split personality disorder is a type of schizophrenia. It is indeed a mental illness. The patient’s mental state generally does not have much problem. More personal cognitive deviations occur, and sometimes the personality changes drastically, accompanied by symptoms such as amnesia… …]

[Thanks science in the live broadcast room!]

[……]

At this time, Host Liu’s voice finally sounded:

“After Mrs. Hao suspected that there was something weird about her son’s condition, she took him to the hospital to see a doctor, but Xiao Heng’s psychiatrist said that this was the first time he had seen this.

Moreover, Xiao Heng’s behavior was somewhat irrational, his temperament became more and more irritable, and his physical condition became worse. Rather than saying that his condition was getting worse, the doctor felt that he was more likely to have been brainwashed, and indoctrinated into some unhealthy ideas.”

Seeing that the path to medical treatment was hopeless, Mrs. Hao also thought of asking someone to consult an outside psychic, but people couldn’t see anything.

And since the abnormality happened, her son Xiao Heng has become particularly resistant to seeing doctors and psychics.

One time, he even got angry directly at himself, with an aggressive tone: ‘Mom, do you think I’m crazy?’

That look made Mrs. Hao’s heart tremble.

She felt that her son had changed, and even his second personality had changed.

In addition to a series of creepy things that happened to Xiao Heng in school, the teacher in his class contacted Mrs. Hao several times and said that some of Xiao Heng’s behaviors had affected other students in the same dormitory.

Others reported to the class teacher that Xiao Heng’s personality changed drastically and he would do some weird things in the dormitory.

As a last resort, Mrs. Hao suspended her son from school.
