Chapter 93: Ghosts from Old House (Part 2)

He cried and fussed in bed and his face turned red. He said he felt uncomfortable and was scared.

Laughing Mouth Always Open‘ and her husband were so anxious that they turned on the light in the middle of the night to find antipyretics for the child and fetch water to wipe the body. Even the old man in the other room was woken up.

After feeding him the medicine, it took more than an hour for his son’s body temperature to slowly return to normal. He didn’t twist back and forth like he did just now or say he was uncomfortable. He just closed his eyes and whispered that he was scared.

After struggling for a long time, ‘Laughing Mouth Always Open‘ was worried. She planned not to sleep tonight and just watch over her son.

Who knows if she was just too sleepy and tired, or what.

Her consciousness became increasingly blurred, and she finally fell asleep at an unknown time.

The reason she woke up again was because she heard a faint “squeak” in her deep sleep, like the sound of a door shaft turning.

She sat up and found that she was asleep on the bed.

Her husband was sitting on the sofa, leaning against the cushions with his head tilted and sleeping soundly.

The door to the bedroom was open, and the lights in the room were turned on to a softer setting, but the living room connected to the door was completely dark, with faint traces of moonlight visible.

Laughing Mouth Always Open turned her head suddenly to look at the bed.

Empty!

The place where her son Xiao He was sleeping still felt warm and moist. It was the sweat from his fever that soaked the sheets, but the people were gone.

Laughing Mouth Always Open‘ was immediately frightened and everyone was dumbfounded.

The child who was still running a fever disappeared from under her nose once again!

Thinking of the door knock that woke her up, her voice broke with fear and anxiety, and she stumbled out on her numb and cramped legs.

“Xiao He? Xiao He?!”

She got goosebumps all over her body as she walked out of the bedroom and towards the door to the front hall.

I saw that someone had untied the tightly closed door from the inside before she went to bed. Half of the door was ajar, and the other half was wide open, leading to an unknown place outside the yard.

Laughing Mouth Always Open ran to the door looked outside, and saw the back of a skinny little child.

It was her son Xiao He!

He was walking very slowly and slightly stiffly towards the open wooden door of the broken house on the other side of the road.

Seeing this strange scene, ‘Laughing Mouth Always Open’ almost collapsed.

She called her son twice with a trembling voice, but the other person still didn’t stop.

Seeing that he was about to enter the house that could eat people in her eyes, Laughing Mouth Always Open finally became anxious. She almost collapsed and shouted her son’s name.

And this hoarse, sharp, and loud cry did stop the little boy who was still walking forward.

He paused and staggered slightly.

Then he turned his head to look at the dark door in front of him, then turned to look at the surrounding paths, and was so frightened that he cried.

The boy who finally came to his senses turned around and when he saw his mother behind him, he opened his hands and ran over: ‘Mom…’

Laughing Mouth Always Open‘ wiped away tears and went over to greet him.

But she had only taken two steps when she saw a horrifying scene that she would never forget in her life.

The expression on his son Xiao He’s crying face was distorted, as if he was sad, but the corner of his mouth was being raised.

He stopped running towards the ‘Laughing Mouth Always Open‘, tilted his head and neck stiffly with his hands open, and let out a sharp laugh of ‘hee hee’.

The moonlight above the head just shone on the boy’s face, clearly illuminating his tear-stained, crying, and laughing face. Such a weird and terrifying scene immediately made the scalp of Laughing Mouth Always Open explode.

She realized that the ‘person’ in front of her was not her son!

Already tense and exhausted, she fainted from shock before she could catch her breath.

Her husband, who heard the noise behind her, quickly hugged her to help her stand. When she raised her head, she was frightened by her son’s strange look, which made her back shiver.

Taking advantage that one of them was dizzy and the other one had no time to pay attention, the boy shook his head with strange expressions and jumped away on the road to the village.

It was a wild night.

Many villagers know that the house of the old man who was about to celebrate his birthday is haunted.

His precious grandson became evil for some unknown reason!

The villagers were all warm-hearted. Although they are curious and gossipy, they all go out to help search.

It wasn’t until dawn that the little boy was found with half his legs submerged in the pond next to the ditch at the end of the village.

And he was unconscious.

When the villagers picked him up and yelled with flashlights, they found that he was burning with fever!

They were almost burned.

After Laughing Mouth Always Open woke up, she almost fainted again because her son was missing. Not long after, she staggered over and took her son from the hands of the villagers. She held her son tightly and cried heartbreakingly.

The villagers who had been helping the search all night said one after another:

‘Oh, this kid must be in trouble to encounter things like this! Don’t wait any longer. Send him to the shaman who can see things and treat him.’

‘That’s right, this is too scary. How could this happen to a good child? When I looked at him with the flashlight, his shoes were soaked in the ditch! Doesn’t it mean he will drown if we were two more steps late?!’

Laughing Mouth Always Open and her husband also realized the seriousness of the matter.

They picked up their son and got into the car and drove to the next village.

Early in the morning, they went to the local shaman with a tired face and asked her to help their son see what was going on.

As soon as the shaman touched the boy’s hand, she said: Your son is possessed by evil spirits! The thing that hit him was very fierce. Now it squeezed into his body, and his three souls and seven spirits were squeezed out of his body. It wanted to kill him.”

“You touch him and see how hot his temperature is. This matter must be resolved as soon as possible. The soul and the human body are connected. If it takes a long time, his soul will run away and lose contact, it will be difficult to find it back. People who lack soul will either become physically disabled for no reason in the future, or they will become demented or in a vegetative state!”

Hearing what the shaman said, the couple was so frightened that they were at a loss. They just kept asking the shaman to help them save their son.

The shaman said: “I want to save him, but I have to drive out the ghost that hit your son and squeezed it out of his body first. Its shape is very vague, and I can’t tell whether it was a boy or a girl before birth. I can only feel that it is quite fierce… Has your son been to any suspicious place these days? Where there is a strong yin energy or newly deceased people?”

Laughing Mouth Always Open‘ told the shaman what happened last night and the night before:

“Since we returned to the village, we have never offered incense or visited a cemetery. Apart from the old house opposite, we don’t know where else near our home we can attract evil spirits.”

After listening, the shaman thought thoughtfully and said: “It must be the old man who is causing the strange thing, otherwise your son wouldn’t go to sleep in that dead man’s nest again and again.”

“In this way, I will first do something to stabilize the other souls in your son’s body, so that other souls will not be squeezed out by evil spirits again.”

After saying that, the shaman took out a small silver bottle, dipped a wicker stick into the water mixed with some unknown substance in the bottle, and swiped it on his son’s face and body while muttering something in her mouth.

After doing this a few times, Laughing Mouth Always Open felt that the palm of her son’s hand that she was holding was indeed not hot anymore.

Ten minutes later, her son Xiao He woke up once.

As soon as he opened his eyes, he said in a hoarse voice and tears in his eyes: “Mom, I’m so scared, I always have nightmares…”

Laughing Mouth Always Open cried when her son said this. She asked him what he was dreaming about, but his son only said intermittently that his dream was very scary. He said that when he went to bed at night, it felt like a huge stone was pressing on his chest. He can’t breathe at all.

He ran away when he saw a very thin, skeleton-like grandfather waving to him as if to invite him over.

He was still a little scared, but he walked slowly and uncontrollably in the direction of the grandfather.

Xiao He didn’t remember anything about what happened after that.
