Chapter 22: Furong Street

The old street where An Yan lived has a nice name: Furong Street.

The origin of the name was very simple. There were two rows of hibiscus trees planted on both sides of this old street, about three or four meters high. From August to October every year, the street will turn into a dreamy pink all day long.

It stands to reason that such a beautiful street should receive some attention, but unfortunately, this was an old street, and the houses on both sides were still in the style of two-story tiled houses, which were very old.

Secondly, the total length of this street was only about 400 meters, and most of the two-story houses on both sides were used as storefronts on the first floor and living on the second floor.

This street was inhabited by old residents. They have settled on this street since the houses were built in the 1990s.

In total, the houses on this street have a construction history of more than ten years, so this old street was not very popular, and the light was slightly dim due to the obstruction of trees on both sides.

During the day, the whole street was deserted and there was no popularity at all, which made the whole street exude a sense of peace.

Because the street was old, the business of stores has not been very good in recent years. They have closed down and changed hands for several rounds. The business of large stores couldn’t continue, but the business of small stores was still right.

Nowadays, the small stores on the street mainly do some small business for the residents here, and some office workers in nearby office buildings who were looking for value occasionally choose to eat on this old street.

For example: breakfast shops, noodle shops, tailor shops, hardware stores, small clinics, small shops, etc.

Although it was not as lively as other residential communities, basic living needs can still be met. After all, this area was located in the central urban area.

Supplies that were not available in the street could be bought in nearby residential areas in more than a minute’s walk, which was quite convenient overall.

At the right end of the old street, there was another horizontal alley: named Furong Alley.

The buildings in this alley were not two-story houses with stores on the old street, but small courtyards with independent doors and households. The alley was not large, and only seven families lived next to it.

The alley in the middle of the residential courtyard was relatively narrow, and it was impossible to plant greenery. The largest means of transportation that can flexibly enter and exit the alley was a tricycle. Ordinary cars cannot turn around when they drive in and can only park on the old street.

Although the alley was relatively bare and monotonous, the style of the house type in the courtyard was very consistent. Such a building full of age was also unique.

Such old streets and alleys were not the only ones in this prosperous city, but they were very special.

Rongcheng was the capital city of Shu Province, and its development in all aspects was very good. In recent years, high-rise buildings have been built one after another, and many old houses have been demolished and built into office buildings and commercial buildings.

Although Furong Street was located on the 2.5th ring road of the main urban area, it does not mean that every place in the main urban area can be effectively developed. Furong Street was just a small branch of the main road.

Because the street area was not too large or too small, it could only be planned together with the surrounding land. This leads to conflicts in each planning, either the total area exceeds the standard or it does not meet the standard.

And it just so happens that Furong Street was always abandoned in the end, so that now, the surrounding areas have been developed, leaving only this old street surrounded by high-rise buildings.

The other area was new, and the other one was old. The new area was noisy, while the other one was quiet. The sharp contrast between the two makes Furong Street an awkward and special geographical location.
