Before high school, An Na’s name was An Mei, and she was the daughter of the second branch of the An Family.
An Na didn’t like the name ‘An Mei’ very much, because this name represented all the bad memories of her youth.
Those memories made her very painful and tormented. Especially in front of her cousin An Yan, she was like an ugly mouse living in a dark corner, gloomy and inferior.
In contrast to An Yan, she was completely out of the limelight.
Before high school, their second branch had a very difficult life. Her parents lived in a daze, often robbing Peter to pay Paul, and when they couldn’t make ends meet, they would go to their uncle’s house to borrow food and money.
Their uncle’s family lived a very good life and received praise and flattery from many people, but their family lived like beggars, and many people pointed fingers at them privately and said very unpleasant things.
Such discussions and accusations made her feel ashamed and angry.
He was her uncle. Their family can’t make ends meet. What’s wrong with asking for help from them? What’s more, her uncle’s family lives so well, and their family just took a little rice and flour and small money.
But everyone’s accusations and ridicule were as if their family had done something unforgivable.
Even though her uncle and aunt never scolded her, every time she took something back from their house, she felt like she was being given alms.
An Yan was the eldest daughter of the eldest branch. She was the eldest daughter of the second house. However, as daughters of the An Family, she and An Yan live opposite lives.
An Yan was completely a little princess held in the palm of her uncle’s and aunt’s hands. She often wears beautiful gauze skirts, shiny butterfly hairpins, and expensive leather shoes, and often shares her candy and snacks with people around her.
Wherever she goes, there was a group of friends around her, accompanying her to play and make her happy.
Even after she went to junior high school and grew up to be a big girl, she still lived like an innocent little princess. She didn’t have to do any housework, didn’t worry about life, and didn’t get beaten or scolded if she didn’t pay attention.
In school, An Yan was always the most dazzling existence. Teachers and classmates liked her very much. Many male classmates also competed to show off in front of her and gave her all kinds of delicious snacks.
What about her? She shrank in the corner like a transparent person. No one liked her, no one cared about her, and even laughed at herself when they knew she was An Yan’s cousin.
The reason was simple. An Yan was always bright and beautiful in everyone’s eyes, as beautiful as a little princess.
And for herself? She always wore shabby and ill-fitting clothes, her hair was frizzy and yellow, and she was dark and thin. If her cousin An Yan was a beautiful white swan, then she was an ugly duckling with an inferiority complex.
Although her name was An Mei, she was not as beautiful as her cousin An Yan. This name was like a silent irony, laughing at herself.
That’s why she hated this name so much!!!
For her, the life before high school was a memory she was extremely reluctant to recall or mention because, during that period, she was completely trampled to dirt by An Yan.
Where An Yan was, no one could see her existence, and everyone’s eyes would always be on An Yan, completely ignoring her.
Even the first boy she liked in her life was no exception. He was like a prince from a comic book, shining into her heart like a beam of warm sunshine.
