Chapter 17: Don’t be polite to me

Qi Mohan’s eyes fell directly on the recorder in Xiao Qing’s hand.

“Qing’er, does Miss Si have anything to say to Uncle?”

Xiao Qing’er quickly put the recorder into his hand.

“Uncle, my beautiful sister has something to say to you.”

A pleasant voice came out of the recorder:

[Qi Mohan, in our era, people use tap water, and there are too many specific explanations…]

Just after hearing the first few words, Imperial Concubine Yun smiled.

It was the first time she heard someone call her son by his full name.

When he was in the capital, the elders in the palace would call him Mohan, and the servants and civil and military officials in the palace would call him Prince Rong.

Suddenly hearing such a nice female voice calling him by his full name, Imperial Concubine Yun thought it was quite pleasant as if family members were calling each other on their own.

Qi Mohan didn’t pay attention to these small details like Imperial Concubine Yun and listened to Si Si’s words twice.

While he was listening to the recording, Imperial Concubine Yun was also listening carefully.

“Mohan, I feel a little jealous of Qing’er and Mujin.”

Qi Mohan raised an eyebrow: “Mother should be curious about the era where Miss Si lived, right?”

Imperial Concubine Yun nodded: “Yes, Mother has lived for most of her life. Although I lived in the palace and ate the best food, thinking about it, it seems that it’s not as good as the food from Miss Si.”

Qi Mohan also agreed with this point: “Yes, it’s true. What Miss Si brings to us is the best.”

On the day of distributing porridge, the people said that the rice was very sweet and looked full.

Things recognized by tens of thousands of people must be good.

And what Miss Si just said, was that yellow corn flour was a kind of food with extremely high yield and strong satiety.

If Qiushui City survives this drought and introduces grain, the people will surely have a much better life.

Of course, these were things to be dealt with later, and the most important thing right now was how to survive this disaster.

And what about the tap water that Miss Si mentioned? Although the latter was not specifically explained, from the literal meaning, Qi Mohan thinks it should be the water that flows out by itself. Just like when he saw the water hose, the water can flow out automatically and continuously.

Imperial Concubine Yun savored Si Si’s words carefully: “This girl is considerate. She specially sent coarse corn flour suitable for disaster relief.”

She had never heard of corn as a food, but she had clearly understood the benefits of corn from Si Si’s introduction.

In short, Imperial Concubine Yun liked Si Si more and more and even thought that it would be a great blessing if her son could marry such a woman.

Of course, Imperial Concubine Yun’s idea was just a flash in her mind. She knew that her son and Miss Si Si were people of different generations and could not be together at all.

Qi Mohan didn’t know what his mother was thinking and had already picked up the recorder to reply to Si Si.

[Miss Si, the prince is very grateful for your help, but I don’t know how long this water source can last. I hope you can tell me in detail.]

Qi Mohan recorded the voice for Si Si this time, thanking the latter for the water source, but most importantly, he had something to ask for.

[Yesterday, the rice and millet that you asked Qing’er and Mujin to bring back have all been cooked into porridge and distributed to the people. Now these two kinds of rice have all been used up. I wonder if it’s convenient for the lady to continue to supply these two kinds of food to the people of Qiushui City.]

[In addition, the prince collected many vases and ornaments from the palace according to your request and sent them over. I don’t know if they are what the lady needs. If so, the prince will find a way to provide them in large quantities.]

Qi Mohan was not a talkative person. He explained his meaning concisely and concisely, and then handed the recorder to Xiao Qing, asking the two children to give it to Si Si.

Si Si saw the tap water flowing into the water hose continuously, which was like a flower blooming.

Because of other things, her method was convenient for providing water to Qi Mohan, and most importantly, her action could save countless lives.

When Si Si was immersed in joy, the two little ones suddenly appeared.

Xiao Qing ran to Si Si with her short legs and raised the recorder high: “Uncle has something to say to sister.”

Si Si took the recorder, played what Qi Mohan said, and then quickly replied:

[Qi Mohan, I feel very honored to help the people affected by the disaster in your place. Please don’t be polite to me.]

[The water source can be supplied indefinitely. As long as I don’t stop it here, it can continue to flow through the water hose.]

[As for food, there are still some here. I will arrange for Qing’er and Mujin to take it over later.]

[You have given me too many vases, ornaments, calligraphy, and paintings. They will not be used up in the short term. Don’t send more for the time being. If there is any need, I will let the children bring you news.]

After all, she was not familiar with Qi Mohan. The two of them only talk about what they need. As for chatting about family matters, there was no need at all. Si Si also said only this much.

After handing the recorder to Xiao Qing and sending the two children away, Si Si went to the supermarket on the first floor to prepare food for Qi Mohan.

She now knows that the relief for disaster victims was porridge and rice and millet were more affordable. Therefore, this time, she only got these two kinds of food.

In terms of quantity, it was much more than yesterday.

According to Si Si’s strength, she could barely pull a cart with 1,000 kilograms of grain.

This time, she filled five carts, which was 5,000 kilograms of grain.

According to the price of grain, these 5,000 kilograms of rice and millet should be worth about 15,000 yuan.

In other words, the value of the grain she gave to Qi Mohan twice was more than 20,000 yuan, which was far from the income from selling the jewelry yesterday.

Si Si felt that Qi Mohan lost in this business.

To make up for the other party’s loss, she transported the food to the 33rd floor and returned to the supermarket again.

This time, she pushed a shopping cart, just like ordinary people shopping in a supermarket.

She first came to the seafood area, where there were various quick-frozen fish and shrimps in the frozen display cabinet.

She took some of the largest quick-frozen shrimps, hairtails, and sea cucumbers.

There were also two of each of the mandarin fish and carp that were still alive in the glass tank.

Then, Si Si went to the cooked food area, where there were vacuum-packed braised beef, beggar chicken, sausages, etc., and put some of each in the shopping cart.

Si Si wandered around the supermarket for half an hour, and her shopping cart was already full.

There were various common seasonings, meat, frozen dumplings, instant steamed buns, apples, pears, lychees, oranges, and other easy-to-store fruits.

In addition, Si Si also took some green vegetables that had not been spoiled in the supermarket, such as cabbage and potatoes.

  1. I was wondering about the perishables in her supermarket. They would all go bad if she isn’t selling them. She might as well hand them all over, especially fruits and veggies.
