Chapter 26: Return our hard-earned money

Tang Xu saw her get out of the car and hurriedly followed her.

Just a few steps after the two of them walked out, someone saw her.

“Look, this is the daughter of the chairman, the daughter of the chairman is here.”

*Hualala*

In the blink of an eye, Si Si was surrounded by a group of angry men and women.

A few women who looked to be in their thirties or forties squeezed to the front of the crowd, and one of them stepped forward and grabbed Si Si’s arm.

Seeing this, Tang Xu wanted to step forward to help.

Unexpectedly, Si Si seemed very calm at this time. She took out her phone and threw it to Tang Xu: “Senior, record the whole process. If I get hurt, call the police.”

Tang Xu hesitated for a moment and then took Si Si’s phone obediently, stood a little further away, and filmed in Si Si’s direction.

At the same time, he didn’t relax his vigilance at all. Once Si Si had something wrong, he would immediately help.

Fortunately, Si Si was only pulled by the woman’s arm, and the other party didn’t take any further violent actions.

Si Si looked at the woman and asked: “What are you doing?”

The woman said angrily: “What? We have worked for the commercial building for 3 months, but we haven’t received a penny yet. The elderly and children at home are waiting for the rice to be cooked!”

Immediately afterward, someone in the crowd echoed: “Hey, give us back our hard-earned money… give us back our labor income…”

“Give us back our money…”

“Give us back our money…”

“Give us back our money…”

As everyone shouted, the banners in their hands were also raised high.

When Si Si checked the company’s accounts, she found that the employees were owed three months’ salary.

She had thought that she would pay off the bank loan first and then raise money to make up the employees’ wages, but she didn’t expect that these people would come to her door that day.

After all, she owed someone money. Si Si didn’t think she was right, but the matter could be solved slowly by sitting down. She couldn’t accept being surrounded by a group of people and being pulled and tugged.

Si Si wanted to pull her arm back, but she didn’t know that as soon as she pulled it a little, the woman immediately pulled her hand harder, and even shouted: “What? You want to run away without paying back the money you owe?”

The women behind her heard that Si Si was going to run away, and they immediately lost their composure and pulled her forward.

The last woman who came over had nowhere to grab when she reached out, so she grabbed Si Si’s hair.

Si Si felt pain: “Let go, we can discuss and solve the problem. If you continue like this, I will call the police.”

Seeing that Si Si was being taken advantage of, Tang Xu didn’t care to continue filming the video and directly came to fight with the group of women, trying to rescue Si Si.

However, the more they did this, the more they thought they were going to escape, and the more they grabbed Si Si.

Si Si was caught and shouted with all her might: “Let go of me, I will find a way to pay the wages owed to you, and I won’t let your hard work go in vain.”

Then, she said loudly to Tang Xu: “Senior, don’t get involved. If you continue like this, call the police.”

Hearing Si Si say that she would find a way to make up for the wages owed to them, and then call the police, these people seemed to realize that their behavior was a bit extreme.

One after another, people let go of their hands, and Si Si was finally freed.

Looking at her body again, fortunately, the jeans and T-shirt she was wearing looked a bit dirty, but they were not torn.

But the two arms exposed were in trouble. Si Si’s skin was tender, and her face was covered with red fingerprints.

Tang Xu felt so distressed when he saw this, and he ran back to the car to get a coat to cover her body.

The phone in his hand was recording the video, and he would continue without Si Si calling for a stop.

If it were in the past, Si Si would have been scared to tears when she encountered such a scene, but now, she had no right to cry, and the only thing she could do was to be strong.

She ignored the pain in her arms and looked directly at the group of people in front of her.

“If you are willing to trust me once, give me one day to raise funds. If you block me here, I can’t do anything, how can I raise money to pay you?”

Tang Xu never thought that a girl who looked weak could be so calm in front of 1,800 people.

He didn’t know that Si Si’s legs were shaking at this time. From childhood to adulthood, she has been a baby in the palm of her parents’ hands. Not to mention encountering such a thing, she never thought that there would be such a day.

But now she has lost her support and must face it alone.

Si Si clenched her fists, trying not to show any cowardice, waiting for the response of those people.

At this time, a middle-aged man wearing glasses walked out from behind the crowd.

Si Si saw that this man looked familiar, and when she was thinking about who he was, the man with glasses had already spoken.

“Miss Si, I am the manager of the supermarket. I know you are in a bad situation, but we all need to support our families. Not only did we lose our jobs suddenly, but we haven’t received our wages for 3 months. Please think about us and give us a way out.”

Si Si also remembered that this man with glasses had appeared several times when she went shopping in the supermarket. No wonder he looked familiar.

Whether she knew him or not, it was an indisputable fact that the mall owed people wages, and she had to find a way to fill this hole.

“I’ll say the same thing again, I’ll pay all your wages immediately, please give me 1 day to find a solution.”

There was no point in saying more. She now has only a little over two million on her card, including the money from selling jewelry yesterday, which is not enough to pay these people’s wages.

It was obvious that the man with glasses was the leader of this trouble. After he spoke, no one else interrupted.

The man with glasses lowered his head and thought for a moment, then turned to face everyone.

“In this case, let’s give Miss Si 1 day to find a solution. I believe Miss Si will not ignore everyone.”

Everyone was speechless and tacitly agreed with the man with glasses.

As the man with glasses left first and the troublemakers left one after another, Tang Xu walked to Si Si’s side.

“Si Si, how much do those people’s salaries cost? I’ve saved some in the past 2 years, although it’s not much, I can give it to you to deal with the emergency first.”

“Thank you, senior, I’ll figure out a way to deal with this matter myself.”

If she hadn’t met the two little kids, Si Si would have been helpless in the face of such a situation before, but now it was different. She has so many treasures in her hands, even if it was not enough to pay back the bank loan, it’s no problem to make up for the salaries of these employees.

Besides, after her parents left, she had already roughly looked at the financial statements.

The three-month salary of these employees was 12 million. No need to talk about whether Tang Xu has that much money to lend her. Even if he does, she can’t take his money.

Seeing her firm attitude, Tang Xu didn’t say anything more. In short, as long as Si Si needs it, he will go through fire and water without hesitation.

  1. I know the people need to get their due wages, but since it seems they never approached her previously about their wages, it seems ridiculous to hold up banners and attack her in protest for their money as if they’ve already been rejected by her before; simply approaching her about it peacefully should have been the first course of action and then taking more drastic measures if that doesn’t work.

As for Si Si, I was surprised that her first concern was to pay off the bank loan rather than paying the former workers their due wages, especially since others shouldn’t have to suffer as a result of her family’s financial problems and because clearly the bank loan is much more difficult to pay off than their wages. It’s understandable that she cares deeply about her parents’ life legacy, but it just seems like a wrong attitude to take toward other people’s livelihoods.

    Thanks for the chapter! 😀

  2. Yes, I agree that paying the employees wage is more important, but if the mall is taken away, what will she have to pay them. I think the best option would be to pay them one month worth first then pay the rest as soon as possible so she’ll be able to pay the monthly bank loan
