Chapter 63: Taking in a concubine and will be happy (Part 2)

“So, you agree?” Liu Bai got so surprised with Lin Chujiu’s answer. She’s only been married to Tianyao for a month, but she agreed for Tianyao to get another concubine? Is this woman so virtuous or she’s just pretending to be one?
Lin Chujiu took the teacup and took a sip to cover up the mocking smile to her lips: “The more sister I get, the more the Xiao Wangfu will get lively. So, I am happy about it.” Lin Chujiu didn’t only agreed, but also couldn’t wait for Xiao Tianyao to get another wife. Once that concubine arrives, he doesn’t need to focus and monitor her all day.

Don’t think that she doesn’t know that someone is monitoring her every action. As a previous spy from Z country, it’s very easy to detect if someone else is looking at her inside the room.

“Are you really serious about that?” Liu Bai really couldn’t understand Lin Chujiu. And he found out that she’s really not as simple as he thinks.

“I will never joke about such things. So, Liu Bai, you can go to Wangye now to report.” Lin Chujiu put down the teacup and said. Obviously, she doesn’t want to talk about these things more with Liu Bai.

She doesn’t hate Liu Bai, but she also doesn’t like him. As if her instinct is telling her to avoid him and prepare herself.

“I understand.” Liu Bai also doesn’t want to stay any longer, but before leaving, he couldn’t help but stared back at Lin Chujiu a bit. However, Lin Chujiu only smile back and fearlessly look at him. At that moment, she looks very dignified and extraordinary, but… …

The moment Liu Bai left, Lin Chujiu immediately relaxed. And no longer have the image of a very dignified Princess.

Zhenzhu and Feicui had long been accustomed to Lin Chujiu’s two-faced character although they haven’t been with her for so long. However, they failed to see Lin Chujiu’s real intentions. So, they tried to persuade her out of concern: “Wangfei, you and Wangye just got married. So, if Wangye will take another concubine, the people will think that you had failed to get Wangye’s heart.”

Are they trying to protect my image?

When Lin Chujiu looks at Zhenzhu and stared at each other for a long time. Both of their ears turn red in embarrassment. But, Lin Chujiu couldn’t help but gently smile at her and said: “You’re really a good person.”

After saying those words, she stood up and said: “Help me go back to my room, I’m really tired.” Although Liu Bai only stayed for half a stick of incense, Liu Bai presence really put a pressure on her, so she had to put some spirit to respond to him.

“Wangfei … …” Zhenzhu felt a bit disappointed, she said those words for her sake but it seems Lin Chujiu didn’t even think about it.

Lin Chujiu stops walking and patted Zhenzhu’s hand: “Rest assured, Wangye only do things within his calculations. Moreover, I really need to do this. I am even willing to give up my position as the first wife if they will ask me too as long as they will treat Wangye’s legs.”

When Lin Chujiu finished saying those words, she looks away and realized that her words sound really too hypocrite.

“Wangfei, Wangye will eventually learn your kindness.” Zhenzhu looks at her emotionally because she got so touched with her words.

At that moment, Lin Chujiu could only force her lips to move and stiffly smile… …

*
When Liu Bai finally get Lin Chujiu’s approval, he immediately went to report to Xiao Tianyao: “Tianyao, your Wangfei agreed, so you no longer have reason to object, right?”

Liu Bai helplessly looks at Xiao Tianyao because he’s afraid that Xiao Tianyao might still refuse. After all, Xiao Tianyao doesn’t much have time so he shouldn’t keep delaying it.

“What else can benwang say?” Xiao Tianyao said while tapping his fingertips to the handrails. He’s actually not surprised with Lin Chujiu’s decision, so he slightly curves his lips to smile and to prove that he was in a good mood.

Liu Bai felt relieved and ignored the worries in his heart. He was thinking to leave early, but suddenly, he heard Xiao Tianyao’s voice: “But… …”

It was only a word, but Liu Bai felt his heart almost skipped a beat. So, he asks: “But what?”

“But, you will bring Divine Doctor Mo here to treat benwang after ten days.” Xiao Tianyao couldn’t refuse to say. while Liu Bai got even more confused: “Why do we have to wait ten more days.”

“Because … …” Lin Chujiu still need to drink her medicine for ten days. He doesn’t feel quite sure with Divine Doctor Mo’s medical skill, so he needs another doctor to observe.

But Xiao Tianyao will not tell this reason to anyone!

“Benwang still have a lot of things to do.” Making up a reason to Liu Bai is not easy, but still, he tried.

Thankfully, Liu Bai didn’t give much thought about it and just nodded his head… …

  1. This chapter leaves a bad taste in my mouth 🙁 I am not liking how Lin Chujiu is so helpless. AGH

    1. Like, I don’t understand love at first sight and all, and would like a little development, this is too much. This ML is way too kuudere for my taste that he’s even making the MC feel unsafe.
      >> kuudere as in, looks cold/acts cold, but is actually hiding a shy heart for people they like

    2. Maybe he also wants to bring in doctor mo to help treat Lin chujiu’s chronic poison as well, remember he doesn’t know that she knows how to treat herself.

  2. Sighs. This Liu Bai, bringing unneccessary trouble in the house. This Xiao Tianyao calculative insensitive jerk. This Lin Chujiu, full of helpless situations.

    ლ(๏‿๏ ◝ლ)

  3. Hooo evil general doesn’t seem trust enough this doctor Mo ah. But still I do really hope he didn’t take another wife into Xiao household. Sigh… Can’t I still hope?

  4. … Hmm? I kinda don’t get that last part where Wangye said that he still needs another doctor or something? HMMM??
    Thank you for the update!

    1. He still doesn’t trust Doctor Mo, so he needs another doctor to supervise. Afterall, he remembers what Lin Chujiu’s words to be wary of doctors.

  5. What is going to happen to LC ? Dear author, please don’t torture us like this? Our hearts can’t take this. You are really talented and good author. To be able to disturb our hearts and feeling like this..my salute to you. Please dont add miss mo in the family. No no no

  6. The ML made me depress.. that Liu of a Bai..tsk! Really a foolish one who got dupped due to the white lotus facade of Miss Moo..and that quack of Doc Moo’s golden mouth 😑 tsk tsk.. just hang in there Chujiu..

  7. 60 odd chapters in and shes still poisoned and no where near her previous strenght it sucks seeing her so weak and helpless. Sooner she heals herself the happier she will be

  8. I’m all for “2 people for a single lifetime”. Please no miss MO, please. On another note, I really wish for our LC to be a little more self reliant. I don’t mean she has to be ruthless like many other novels with female leads (many of which I adore) but maybe she can use her medical skills and turn into a well revered doctor (also becoming healthy in the process). Then she won’t have to watch every one of her steps just for her 3 meals a day .
I mean I am really disappointed at the male lead.

  9. LB is dummy…Can’t help to say again. Poor LC…or.maybe.blessing for her cos.d cold blooded Prince will not disturb her anymore.
    Thanks

  10. In her place I would have escaped in a village. She has the gold of her dowry and the ability to support herself thanks to her work. She was a spy too.

Why does she bear him? I really can’t understand. He thinks he’s the best of the world: but he’s just an arrogant living being. He’s not human.

It would have been perfect if the assassins at their wedding niche could have managed to kill him.

    1. I agree with the whole escaping the male lead and settling in a village somewhere, since she seems to have the funds for it and she used to be a spy. I also don’t quite understand why she tolerates him and doesn’t plan an escape route. Thanks for the chapter!

      1. Because she still does not have the power to protect herself completely. She fears that her family will come after her to kill her, and that she needs a stable place to recover from the poison (which has not happened so far). e.é
        ML is idiot! >:(

  11. I wonder what will happen in the next chapter. Thank you Ai Hrist for the translation, and thank you editors/editor for editing this chapter! 🙂

  12. To be honest, I’m kind of confused as to why he still needs that doctor? I mean LC already admitted that she could treat his legs, right? It can’t be that he doesn’t consider her because he doesn’t trust her. After all, he wants her to watch the doctor treat him. Which means he trusts her to catch any unsavory things that might happen. So, at least he trusts her to give the right treatment (AKA not kill him).
Honestly, I get why XT is wary of trusting others… but it’s going a bit to far sometimes. I mean, I wouldn’t immediately trust LC either at the start, especially since she is in fact hiding something. However, how can he still not understand her personality? For someone who supposedly can read people well, he keeps missing with LC.

Gah, I’m frustrated enough to even comment.

  13. Man, you know the new bit…I mean concubine, is going to be a complete viper and the poor MC will have yet another person (or 2 if counting Divine Doctor Mo) out to kill her. Poisoned from her own family, husband threatens to kill her, assassins, treacherous in-laws, and now a viperous and probably murderous “sister” (concubine) … sigh. Wish she actually would have something going for her here soon.

  14. Xiao tian yao is too much! 😤 I feel so bad for Lin chu jiu for her helplessness, she’s trying so hard to be strong but it’s all in vain. Luckily, her servants were loyal and caring like a real family.

  15. Here I am, reading this years after this was originally translated and P.O.ed to the max about this situation. Run, run away Lin Chujiu. Be someone else’s doctor!
