Chapter 2: I stole it to eat at McDonald’s

Old Lady Qin didn’t like the eldest daughter-in-law, but she was relatively fair. She frowned and said: “The eldest daughter-in-law is indeed not a dirty person. Is there any misunderstanding?”

Qin Hongfei’s eyes turned red, and she said gratefully, “Thank you, Grandma, for saying something fair.”

Fifth Aunt’s eyes flashed with dissatisfaction, and she stood up excitedly: “Just because she didn’t do it before, doesn’t mean she won’t do it now… In recent years, everyone has seen what my first sister-in-law has done. How is it any different from mental illness?”

Qin Fei couldn’t bear it and said: “You are not allowed to say that about my mother! My mother is not crazy!”

The fifth branch’s children stood up one after another, and the two parties formed a confrontation.

Qin Hongfei knew very well that this matter must be clarified today, otherwise, there would be no way to prove the first branch’s innocence, and this dirty hat would be put on their heads. Also, the money would not disappear for no reason. Suddenly, she saw the fifth branch’s son’s evasive gaze.

“Fifth Aunt, you said the money was stolen, but you have no evidence to prove that it was my mother who stole it. It’s also possible that your child stole it!”

“You’re talking nonsense!” The Fifth Aunt refused to admit that the child she raised had unclean hands and feet.

“If you remember correctly, the money can’t disappear on its own…” Qin Hongfei said firmly: “It’s not difficult to figure it out. You tell me first how the money was lost!”

“I put it in the drawer!” Fifth Aunt thought to herself: Even if I tell you, let’s see if you can do anything.

She was sure the first branch did it: “I counted 100 yuan, and then gave the keys to Xiaonian. When I went to look for it 2 days later, the lock was broken and the 100 yuan was lost. I have already asked my children, they didn’t steal our money!”

“Xiaonian said…”

“When he came back from school 2 days ago, he saw my first sister-in-law coming out of my house! Who else who steal it if she wasn’t your mother?!”

Qin Hongfei’s eyes were fixed on Qin Xiaonian, who was a little guilty. The child was about fifteen years old, but he was very thin! The fifth branch valued girls over boys. Her Fifth Aunt provided all the food and drink to her daughter. She loved her so much that everyone in the family had to give way to Qin Wanwan.

“I want to ask Xiaonian a few questions!” Qin Hongfei said, regardless of whether her fifth aunt agreed or not, she asked directly: “Xiaonian, let me ask you, you said you saw my mother coming out of your house, then, it was after school, right? Was your door locked or unlocked at that time?”

“Locked…it’s locked.” Qin Xiaonian replied stuttering.

“It’s locked. Then how can you be so sure that my mother entered your house at that time? Are you sure it’s locked?” Qin Hongfei asked in a slightly serious tone.

“Well, I remembered it wrong, maybe it wasn’t locked.” Qin Xiaonian said anxiously: “Anyway, I saw it.”

“You’re lying! My mother was in our shop when you got out of school. It takes half an hour to get home from the shop…” Qin Hongfei sneered: “You only need to ask around the shop to find out. I think there is a thief in your house. Let’s call the police and let the police arrest him, and then send him to jail. The police are so powerful, as long as someone did it, it will be clear who stole it!” As she said this, she pretended to walk over to the telephone.

Qin Xiaonian’s eyes widened, and he said in a panic, “No, no, I may have remembered it wrong. I thought she was the First Aunt at that time…”

Now the adults in the family felt something was wrong! He spoke confusingly, which was a sign of panic.

Qin Hongfei held the phone in her hand and said: “I’ll give you another chance. Are you sure you won’t tell the truth? It’s only 100 yuan. Your family is not so poor that they can’t afford to lose it. But if you continue to lie, and then my family will be misunderstood……” Her face turned gloomy.

“I did it!” Qin Xiaonian finally bit his lip and admitted, “I stole it to eat at McDonald’s.”
